MMOHSNS Camogie League Final Winners

Today we had a whole school assembly to celebrate our Camogie Team, who recently won the Camogie Fingal League Final.

Our whole school community are extremely proud of the girls and we were delighted to have the honour of acknowledging this wonderful achievement

We, as a school community encouraged the girls, and all our pupils to join clubs, to continue playing in their chosen sport's code to keep well and for their lifelong enjoyment.

Mr. O' Cearra and Ms. Oakes, the camogie team trainers shared with the school that they are still playing GAA.

Maith sibh!

We also congratulated and celebrated Ms. Oakes's county final medal last weekend. Ms. Oakes and her club team,

Navan O'Mahonys won the County Meath Camogie Intermediate Final last Sunday. Well done Ms. Oakes!.

Camogie League Final Winners Match Report

Our camogie team were deserving winners of the Fingal Camogie league which took place in Parnell Park against St. Brigid’s GNS, Glasnevin.

This was the first year that this league has taken place and the first time that Mary, Mother of Hope ever had a camogie team reach a final.

The girls got off to a super start with a great goal. Mary, Mother of Hope dominated throughout the game particularly with our strong performances.

We led the game 2-0 after a second goal just before the half time whistle. With the supporters behind the girls and cheering them on at every minute, our girls continued to play to an excellent standard.

We were unlucky not to score a few points with a number of shots going wide after excellent strikes out of the hand from the MMoH girls.

However, a lovely strike travelled straight over the goalies head and into the back of the net, seeing Mary, Mother of Hope take a comfortable lead of 3-0.

Substitutions were made and all of our panel of 23 girls had an opportunity of game time and their moment to shine in Parnell Park.

The game finished with screams and roars filling the stadium as our captain rose the cup to the crowd with great delight.

We are extremely proud of the girls for not only getting to the final but winning it on the day.

They did their school and community proud and I’ve no doubt that Erin Go Bragh will be looking for many of these girls to join them in the future!

A huge thank you to Ms. Oakes and Mr. O Cearra for all of their work with the team!
