Internet Safety Day in Mary Mother of Hope

Internet Safety Day has been a huge success, and we are incredibly proud of how engaged our students were with the activities and lessons. In addition to class discussions and activities about internet safety, students attended assemblies where they had the opportunity to hear from a few speakers speakers, including Ms. Fitzpatrick, Ms. McGrath, and Mr. Curtin. We were also honored to have Seán from 6th class as a special guest speaker.

Ms. Fitzpatrick spoke to the students about the importance of friendship and online safety. She also introduced our new Gen-Z Smartphone Free Policy (more details to follow in another post!). Ms. McGrath, our S.P.H.E. Coordinator, focused on Friendship Week and encouraged students to look out for one another, emphasising the value of supporting each other both online and offline. Mr. Curtin, our Digital Learning Coordinator, shared insights on how technology can enhance learning when used responsibly and spoke about digital citizenship, encouraging students to use technology in a positive and productive way. Finally, Seán, a 6th class student, gave us fantastic tips on how to be good digital citizens, helping the students understand the impact of their online actions and how to be respectful and kind in the digital world.

Our goal in Mary Mother of Hope is to ensure that every student leaves with a better understanding of how to stay safe online and how to make responsible choices when using the internet.

As we move forward, we encourage students and parents to continue these important discussions at home. Together, we can work towards creating a safe, respectful, and positive online community for everyone.
