There was great excitement in school today when the Green School’s Committee welcomed the Minister for Children, Roderic O’Gorman T.D. to the school, to present our 4th Green Schools Flag.

This was the culmination of a huge amount of work by the Green Schools Committee over a very long time. The theme for this year was Transport, and our pupils were highly commended by the Minister for their work on this theme.

Minster O’Gorman was welcomed by the pupils from the Green School’s Committee and brought on a tour of our sensory garden. This was followed by a presentation on our Save the Bees project in the reception. The Minister then met the entire Green schools committee for a discussion on their work.

After this the Minister was welcomed onto the Astro, where he addressed a whole-school assembly. He praised the work of the children and the school in promoting the Green Agenda, and paid special thanks to our Green Schools co-ordinator, Ms. Galligan. This was followed by a formal raising of our 4th Green Schools Flag.

Once the Minister departed the school, the pupils on the Greens Schools Committee were treated to a well-deserved Pizza Party!
