The Admissions Process of 6th Class Pupils to Post-Primary School for September, 2024
Dear parents,
I am writing to you in relation to our 6th class pupils who must apply for places in post-primary schools in October 2025.
There have been significant changes to how post-primary schools offer school places. These schools have a very short window for applications, and parents are urged to be proactive in making sure they apply for school places on time.
The board of management is anxious to ensure that parents are made aware of the options open to them in application for places for their children in post-primary. You are asked to read this notice carefully.
Post-Primary schools in the Area
In our catchment area, there are three post-primary schools in operation:
Coláiste Pobail Setanta, Phibblestown
Hansfield Educate Together Secondary School
Ériu Community College, Hansfield
Application for Places Opens this Week
From October 1st 2024, each school will begin accepting applications from our current 6th class pupils for admission into their schools for the 2025/26 school-year.
It is very important that parents make themselves fully aware of the enrolment process for each school. These conditions are set out in each school’s Admissions Policy, which is available to view and - on each school's’ websites.
As part of the application process, you will need to include the Roll Number of our school, which is 20137P.

The Admisiions procedures for the 2024/25 academic year for each school are as follows:
Coláiste Pobail Setanta, Phibblestown

3. The closing date for applications is Monday, 21st October, 2024 @ 12noon.
Hansfield Educate Together Secondary School

The closing date for application is Tuesday, 22nd October, 2024.
Ériu Community College, Hansfield
Enrolment opens on the 1st of October 2024.

The closing date for application is the Tuesday, 15th October, 2024 @ 3pm.
Completion of an Application Form alone does not guarantee your child a place in their school of choice
Parents are reminded that completion of an Application form does not guarantee your child a place in a school. If schools are over-subscribed, they will not be able to offer places to everyone who has applied.
If there are more pupils applying for a place in the school than the school has available, the school will offer places to students in accordance with the provisions of that school’s Admissions Policy,
The Admissions Policy, sets out the criteria by which places will be offered in the event of the school being over-subscribed. Parents are strongly advised to read the Admissions Policy, for their school of choice in order to be clear of how school places are offered by that school.
Offers of school places for September 2025 will made in accordance with the individual school enrolment policy.
N.B: Parents should consider applying to a number of Post Primary schools. This is in the event that their school of choice is oversubscribed and their child may not get a place in their preferred school.
Make sure that you are well informed when making the important decision on which school to pick for your child
Choosing a post-primary school for your child is a very important step. As schools differ in how they allocate places, parents are strongly advised to read schools Admissions Policies carefully so that they can make an informed decision.
MAKE SURE TO ACCEPT YOUR PLACE IF OFFERED!
And finally….if you are offered a place, it is essential you accept the place by the closing date on your letter of offer.
Unfortunately, many students have failed to return their acceptance form on time and have lost out on a place as a result.
Make sure to read your letter of offer carefully to ensure that it is returned on time.
